Hyperfine Splitting 008_Mediations on Jakob´s Ladder

Asymptote: H. Rashid + L. Anne Couture, 2017

The internationally renowned architect duo Hani Rashid and Lise Anne Couture, known under the name of the jointly founded architecture studio Asymptote, is famous for ground-breaking digital spatial environments. The projection Hyperfine Splitting 008_Mediations on Jakob’s Ladder appears to dissolve the materiality of the Karlsruhe Palace building piece by piece:

the real shape of the palace’s façade interacts with computer-generated lines and structures; digital elements and analogue artefacts merge into visionary forms. The utopian play with forms is accompanied by a composition by Olga Neuwirth, who is probably the most important composer of new music of our time.
