The world and the city are constantly changing. British artist Tom Biddulph created a series of reimagined traffic signs that point humanity in a shared direction for the future—in the form of a short poem spanning five lampposts. The work was originally commissioned by the “Light Up The North” festivals in northern England and presented at “Light Night Wigan,” “Light Up Lancaster,” and “Lightpool.” The version on display in Karlsruhe is a site-specific adaptation produced locally.

Tom Biddulph is a visual artist from Manchester who currently lives in Amsterdam. He works with various media and enjoys viewing reality from a slightly different perspective to imagine what lies behind it—this often results in concepts that relate to a specific place or environment.
