On Anti-War Day, the OneVoice project will be a guest at the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELEN. OneVoice stands for the power of encounter through music. Via a live Tap-Gig connection, a musician from a crisis area in Ukraine will be connected directly to the castle façade – we will hear, see and talk to each other. A moment of closeness across national borders. The KulturKonvoi – initiated by Sportfreunde Stiller – thus creates spaces for exchange, solidarity and peace. Music becomes a bridge between worlds – moving, connecting, right to the heart.

In their programme, musician Tommy Baldu and media artist haegar explore the meaning of life, love, suffering and the search for happiness in a personal story through meditative sounds. Baldu produces individual sound and song fragments, which he accompanies live on various instruments to create a multi-layered soundscape. Drums, guitars and atmospheric sounds combined with projections onto the castle create an audio-visual frenzy that sometimes inspires dreams, but can also be explosive and unsettling. For this special occasion at the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELEN, the duo is supported by string artist Ómar Guõjónsso.

The Jazz Connection Karlsruhe consists of four musicians who frequently meet in the Karlsruhe jazz scene: Gernot Ziegler is co-founder and organiser of the Jazzclassix, Homegrown and Young Lions series at the Jazzclub Karlsruhe. Stefan Günther-Martens leads the successful jam sessions at the Karlsruhe and Ettlingen jazz clubs. Christian Steuber can be heard with his band under his own name and with the saxophone quartet ‘Finefones’. Bassist Gernot Kögel reinforces countless bands with his accomplished playing. The band will perform their favourite jazz standards and a few originals. Andreas Siefert, media artist and creative director of Pong.Li Studios, will provide visuals to connect the music and the façade.

Every Monday, SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE presents a selection of shows in which special attention is paid to musical composition. In combination with the projected images, the artistic sounds define the atmosphere, structure the narrative and can create an immersive atmosphere. For the motto of SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE 2022, music4life, the then curator and artistic-scientific director of the ZKM, Peter Weibel, formulated: ‘Music can become the gateway to mind-expanding ecstasy in a rush without chemicals, simply through its enjoyment.’ The week also begins with music in the Evangelische Stadtkirche: musicians from Karlsruhe and the surrounding region set the mood for the evening with free concerts.

Discover the city centre in a special atmosphere and discover two stylish highlights: wine lights on Schlossplatz and the neighbouring Lounge76 on Marktplatz – an urban meeting place with DJ sounds, a relaxed atmosphere and a fine selection of wines.

Enjoy fine wines from regional winemakers, stroll between the two squares and be inspired by the fascinating world of projection mapping and the rhythmic sounds of Lounge76.

Carmen Beckenbach and Max Kosorić create their own light artworks with families with children aged 5 and above. First, models with corners, edges and openings are built – your mini facades. Then we develop short animated films, add sound to them and project them onto our models using old and new equipment (e.g. Super8, slide projector, beamer). Creativity, light and fun are the focus!
